Gruinyards is a unique holiday apartment on the third floor of the old Monastery within the historic Abbey at Fort Augustus on the tip of Loch Ness. With windows on three sides, it enjoys some of the most spectacular views of Loch Ness to be found anywhere, all from the comfort of the spacious and elegant living room. Gruinyards is beautifully furnished with many original features and has two generous bedrooms, but can sleep 6 with the use of the comfortable sofa-bed.
The apartment benefits from all the facilities of The Highland Club, including tennis, fishing, snooker, badminton, croquets and some truly impressive architecture. Midway along the Great Glen Way, it makes a perfect base for exploring the Scottish Highlands or simply enjoying Loch Ness and the Great Glen.
The open plan living-dining room has high sloping ceilings and a huge stone window that gives stunning views right along Loch Ness. There are also views over the hills to the east and the abbey cloisters to the south. The living room has a fully equipped kitchen area and an oak dining table that can be extended to seat 8. There is a large screen TV with a wide range of DVDs, as well as a selection of games, maps and guide books.
The spacious master bedroom also has high ceilings and views on two sides. It is beautifully bright and airy and boasts a magnificent en-suite with a roll-top bath overlooking heather clad Borlum Hill.
The apartment also has a very comfortable twin bedroom, a second bathroom and a double sofa bed in the living room. Linen, towels, heating and electricity are all included, and a cot and highchair are also available at no extra cost. However there is a small charge (£20) for use of the sofabed.

As a guest at the apartment you can make use of all the facilities of the Highland Club. As well as being able to wander around the wonderful Gothic abbey and cloisters, there is tennis, croquet, a barbecue area and fishing in Loch Ness all available in the lovely lochside gardens. In addition there is a club lounge with Wi-fi, snooker and table tennis available.
The apartment is ideally located, not only for Nessie spotting and exploring Loch Ness, but also for climbing Ben Nevis, numerous dramatic waterfalls, stunning walks in the Glen Affric and Glen Nevis nature reserves, the romantic ruins of Castle Urquhart and the Caledonian Canal. However much of the time you may just want to relax looking at the view and taking in the wonderful surroundings.

Local Activities
Fort Augustus, situated mid way between Inverness and Fort William, at the southernmost tip of Loch Ness, next to the Caledonian canal and the fast flowing river Oich and river Tarff, is a charming destination in its own right. Loch Ness cruises set off from the swing bridge, with Castle Urquhart and the Loch Ness visitor centre just a short drive away. However it is also ideally located climbing Ben Nevis (or skiing at the Nevis range), visiting numerous dramatic waterfalls and stunning walks in the Glen Affric and Glen Nevis nature reserves. Fort William, forty minutes away, boasts the Ben Nevis distillery and, during the summer, the Jacobite steam train service up to Mallaig. Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, is less than an hour away, the journey there, along either side of Loch Ness, one of the most spectacular there is.
