Property Description

Stable Nook is a newly refurbished 400 year-old detached stone built self-catering holiday cottage in a breath-taking location with panoramic views across the Llafar Valley to the Aran mountain beyond. This is the perfect base form which to explore the wonderful Snowdonia National Park. Surrounded by rolling hills and fields and peacefully set in 6 acres, the cottage is approached from a very quiet lane just 2 miles from Bala Lake. A genuine stable conversion of superior quality with lawned gardens to the front and side, and private rear floodlit patio area, Stable Nook is a deceptively spacious and airy cottage with lots of character and charm. Sloping ceilings and oak beams galore.

Gas-fired central heating. Fuel charged weekly. No smoking inside this cottage please.
1 small well-behaved dog is welcome though certain rules apply. Minimum stay at Stable Nook is 2 nights.

Ground floor: Hall, large sitting room with Villager stove set in inglenook fireplace. Steps down from hallway to spacious dining kitchen with stable door to garden. Stairs from hallway to first floor: Master bedroom with king sized metal bed. Second bedroom with twin beds. Bathroom. Outside: Floodlit timber decking to rear, with panoramic south-facing views.

Additional Information
The property features central heating, a microwave, a fridge/freezer, a washing machine, a dishwasher, 2 TV?s, a DVD player, a video and a radio/cassette/CD player, steam iron & ironing board. Cottage rental is inclusive of crisp, fresh bed linen, soft fluffy towels, tea towels and bath mats. Fuel is also included in the price, so no extras to pay. There is an over-bath hand-held mixer shower and a shaver point. A travel cot, high chair, safety gate, socket covers and fireguard are provided. For your convenience, a power-washer and storage for cycles is available. Cycle hire available in Bala. A barbecue and garden furniture are provided and there is a Barn for barbecues if the weather is not co-operative. An elegant function room - The Retreat - is available for hire for group usage by prior booking.

For younger guests, in the Cyffdy grounds there is a large paddock with resident goat and sheep, and sledges are available for winter holidays. The Timber Trail Play Area, constructed to ROSPA standards, provides endless hours of fun, and the Barn offers shelter for wet weather play.

Freshly made beds, pre-heated cottage and a Welcome Tray of tea, coffee and biscuits on arrival. Parking for several cars/boats per property. Groups welcome, but sorry, no stag or hen parties.


Local Activities

North Wales is an adventure playground for adults and kids - Bala is a perfect base to access the range of activities available for a family week holiday or short weekend break with friends.

Bala is home to the Canolfan Tryweryn, the National White Water Rafting centre and Bala Lake which offers a great variety of watersports.

Explore the beautiful countryside from a mountain bike, quad bike or the saddle, all activity centres are within a 45 minute drive. No previous experience required.

All activity equipment is supplied and all activities are undertaken by qualified instructors. We supply a Travel Pack with itinerary, drive directions and list of recommended clothing, so all you do is book and come and enjoy the fun!

White Water Rafting:
If you?ve never experienced the sheer thrill of white water, now?s your chance! We kit you out in a wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet then run through the basic manoeuvres on dry land before launching onto the river. The course runs a kilometre and a half, through swift rapids. This trip kicks your average theme park white knuckle rides straight into touch.
Orca:
Once you have experienced the River TrYweryn in 7 man rafts, why not progress to the 2 man craft with you in control? If you are seeking thrills this will not disappoint.

Pony Trekking:
Explore the wonderful North Wales countryside from the saddle on one of our Welsh Cobs known for their mild manor, perfect for novices and children.
Each trip is led by a local guide who will lead you along the trails of beautiful Glyn Ceiriog near Llangollen

Quad Bike Trek:
Get to grips with the chunky 4 wheel off road bike, favoured by local farmers for their ?go anywhere? capabilities. Our taster sessions include briefing, instruction and practise before giving you the freedom to ride over the 6 acre course complete with inclines, muddy areas and open area.

4x4 Off-Road Driving:
A great opportunity to drive a high performance 4x4 Off Road vehicle, normally seen in the supermarket car park, the infamous Chelsea Tractor is capable of amazing manoevres. Enjoy the exhilaration of driving a 4x4 in one of the most challenging UK courses, used by many of the leading 4x4 manufactures for product launches. The venue has steep inclines, challenging cambers and water features to test your driving skills all under the guidance of our qualified instructor.

Canyoning:
The adrenalin activity of the moment and one of the most exciting. We disappear into a land that time forgot..... a Jurassic park playground for big kids. Kitted up in wetsuits, helmets and buoyancy aids we descend into the gorge for a day of sliding down rock slabs, jumping into rock pools, boulder hopping, abseiling a waterfall and for the finale the 'Big Air' - a 50-foot leap into a rock pool which is very deep (you'll be glad to hear). It's a fantastic day you won't forget in a hurry.

Rock Climbing & Abseiling:
One of the fasting growing activities climbing is a personal challenge and you can experience a taste of what rock climbing is all about with one of our taster sessions with a qualified instructor.
Learn the basic skills and enjoy the sensation and achievement of reaching the top ? then relax and take the quick route to the bottom by abseiling!

Clay Pigeon Shooting:
The thrill of watching a clay shatter in flight is so overwhelming, you?ll probably miss the next one! Under the watchful eye and expert guidance of our instructor, hopefully you?ll soon be hitting far more than you miss! Using single bore guns your instructor will guide you through the basics of clay shooting. Be warned this activity is addictive.

Bushcraft:
Back to the days before computers and gameboys dominated our time, when we built camps, made real fires and learned how to create stuff from odds and sods. Learn about the countryside and what it has to offer for a great group or family bonding session

High Adventure:
Enjoy this excellent and very safe 2 hour high ropes adventure journey through the trees.You are safety harnessed and never have to unbuckle during the session. There are 28 different elements on the course, the first of which starts close to the ground and gains in height as you continue.

Go Karting:
North Wales is full of surprises, and none more than finding a top karting Championship course only 20 minutes from Bala in the backwaters of North Wales. Junior karts are available from 9 years of age and Pro Karts for adults. The fantastic 1600 metre outdoor circuit will not leave you disappointed.
